Project Summary:
Munkination is an immersive story which places the audience member at the center of a futuristic adventure about climate change and the fate of humanity.
The project mixes styles and genres, combining AR/VR with a distinctive graphic world, and scored with a hybrid of hip hop/trap and opera resulting in a radically new sound and immersive experience.
BACKGROUND
Munkination is an award-winning afrofuturistic immersive concept I created when I was 15 years old; centered around the last surviving tribe living in a post-apocalyptic future after the global climate crisis.
In 2019, Munkination won the Immersive Development Award and partnered with the Royal Opera House to develop this concept into an immersive trap-opera VR/AR educational tool and experience.
In the year following, Munkination was invited to join the CPH:LABS programme in Copenhagen and the Creative XR Programme’s in London and was selected as the finalist for the Fedora Digital Prize 2020. The project is still currently in development.
